\ On 18 November 1998 I posted a message to the H-SIG (the Hungarian Special Interest Group of Jewishgen) mailing list, joining the thread about the accessability of old Budapest city directories. Then my message was forwarded to Hunroots, the mailing list of Family Tree Ltd. I offered free lookups, and here are the results. Pages were taken using my digicam. Probably I could get better quality using a scanner, still, I could not get one handy just now, and also, scanners make no good to bound volumes. Anyway, the main objective is to have them readable.

Regarding the recent thread about Budapest city directories, I understand that Diane G. would like to find this series somewhere in the US, and that Eleanor B. has contacted the Hungarian National Library in Budapest and waiting for the results.

If my memory serves me well, this series is placed in the Historical Reading Room of the National Library, and there might be a complete series. Also, afaik the Budapest Municipial Library (Fovarosi Szabo Ervin Konyvtar) at http://www.fszek.hu (choose English, then the Budapest Collection) has a complete series.

Besides these, our library here in Pecs has a couple of volumes (1880, 1883, 1891, 1902, 1913, 1916, 1922). I am willing to do free lookups, provided you have a request covering 1-2 surnames. Please note that common surnames might got listed on 3-4 pages. I can make digital photos/scans, then put them on the web for your convenience. Should there be 8-10 requests, please allow some time to prepare the material.
